I am a musician and songwriter who also likes to dabble in musicological research. What I write is acoustic music, story songs; somewhat country, somewhat old-time. I am interested in music mainly from very early, pre-1600; also very new music written by living composers and all kinds of vernacular music: Blues, Bluegrass, Old-Time. On this blog I will write about all of these things.
Also, aside from eight years in New York City, I have spent my entire life in the South, born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and living in Nashville for the last nearly 30 years. I will sometimes write about Southern literature and other issues related to history or culture of this wonderful region, the South. My other site, Highway 80 Stories will tell the history of a region that parallels U.S. 80 from Dallas to Macon focusing on nine fictional families.
